Dr. Neil Williams
HIS story
Neil is originally from the United Kingdom, but has been converted by the stunning forests and natural landscape of North America. He completed a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Finance and Management before beginning a career in financial auditing and accounting. After transitioning to forest carbon accounting, he developed a passion for forest science, leading to a PhD in Silviculture from Oregon State University. Neil joins the lab after working on forest-based climate change mitigation and adaptation for the non-profit, Manomet.
Neil worked on three projects in the lab as a postdoctoral researcher: 1) modeling the effects of fire on vegetation dynamics in Siberia, 2) informing the management plan in the Elliott State Forest, and 3) quantifying management benefits and tradeoffs of forest management in Wisconsin.
As of 1/15/23, Neil is working as a Postdoctoral ORISE fellow at the Rocky Mountain Research Lab of the U.S. Forest Service.
