James Lamping
James grew up in Orange County, California and received his B.S. in Forestry with a concentration on soils and his M.S. in Natural Resources at Humboldt State University. His research interests lie in the use of remote sensing, in combination with field-based measurements, to make predictions of forest stand structure and health. His M.S. research focused on the use of UAS and photogrammetry in creating 3D models of different forest types found throughout California and the Pacific Northwest.
James’ dissertation research modelled how historical and current spatial patterns in forest management and natural disturbance affect carbon stocks across southeast Alaska and the western coast of Canada.
James is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the National Parks Foundation and the University of Oregon.
